we have been advised by the department of climate change that from 1 july 2024, australia will ban the import and manufacture of small air conditioning equipment using refrigerant with a global warming potential (gwp) over 750. the ban will apply to equipment designed to use refrigerant over 750 gwp, even if the equipment is imported without refrigerant.
我司接到气候变化部门的通知，从2024年7月1号起，澳大利亚将禁止进口和生产其制冷剂变暖潜力指数（gwp）750的小型空调设备. 该禁令针对设计成可使用750gwp的设备，即使该设备在进口到澳大利亚时并不含有制冷剂.
this ban targets equipment designed to heat or cool a stationary space (mainly for human comfort), such as the window units or non-ducted split systems, that would hold a charge of up to 2.6kg of refrigerant.

the move is not unexpected, coming after a consultation with industry in 2021 on a proposed ban. such a measure would speed up the transition away from gas with higher gwp value such as r410a (gwp of 2,088), to gas with lower gwp value such as r32 (gwp of 675). please find here the list ofgwp valuesfor all gases.
